EXHIBITION BACKGROUND

In this exhibition, the artist Lim presents works linked to an ancient fable from his
childhood: "A man named Zhang had saved his money. Thinking to be intelligent, he dug a hole
in the ground, where he buried his savings. Returning home, and having second thoughts, he
decided to go back to the site and leave a note saying 'The money is not buried here'.
The doubt that underlies our security is the central theme of this cycle of works which
have two points of view: one clearly visible and a second that is imagined and contradictory to
the original message.

The central work is an installation featuring a large cage containing a suitcase, chained
and fastened by several locks. There is a long bench that exits the cage, offering a seat to the
viewer. The super-protected suitcase invokes curiosity, becoming a strong temptation and
canceling the value of the outside world. The remaining works are all self-portraits of the artist,
and whose texts recount the message of the fable.
